Pretendimet më të rënda që u përhapën në rrjete ishin përdorimi i armëve në protestë si shenjë festimi, humbja e jetës së një 16-vjeçari dhe pretendimi se nëna e Muhamet Skanës pranoi që djali i saj ishte paguar për të qenë në protestë. Një pjesë e pretendimeve u përgënjeshtruan, një pjesë mbeten pa konfirmim, dhe deklarata e Kryeministrit për “ndërhyrje të huaja” mbetet ende e paverifikuar.

Për pajisjet në Rinas, u perdoren burime zyrtare të Policisë së Shtetit dhe institucione të tjera konfirmuan se kishin ardhur dy autobotë me ujë nga Turqia Nderkohe Faktoje krahasoi pretendimin edhe me tekstin e marrëveshjes Shqipëri–Izrael dhe me dokumentet e prokurimit në Serbi.
Procesverbali policor i publikuar nga media dhe konferenca e Policisë së Shtetit e 16 tetorit u përdorën për të krahasuar etiketimet mediatike (“militantë të Kurtit”, “agjentë të huaj”) me atë që dokumentohej realisht.

Modelet e përhapjes
Nga televizioni te rrjetet, dhe anasjelltas. Narrativat nuk u përhapën vetëm nga rrjetet sociale. Pretendimi për babanë kamarier nisi në televizion dhe më pas u shtri në rrjete; pretendimet për “militantët e Kurtit” u ndërtuan mbi procesverbale policore të publikuara nga media, të cilat disa tituj i ripaketuan si “agjentë të huaj”. Edhe deklarata e një studenti në emisionin “Breaking” të Euroneës Albania u kthye në “protesta me manual nga Serbia” te disa media.
Materiale të vjetra ose të nxjerra nga konteksti. Videoja e tankeve në Selanik ishte e vërtetë, por lidhej me një paradë ushtarake të 28 tetorit dhe jo me protestat. Videoja e armëve qarkullonte më herët. Rasti i 16-vjeçarit përkonte me një ngjarje në Greqi.
Imazhe të gjeneruara me AI. Fotografia e kolonës me targa serbe në Morinë shërbeu si “provë” për infiltrimin e agjentëve serbë, ndërkohë që rezultoi e gjeneruar me AI. Vetë radhët në Morinë nuk ishin dukuri e re: kontrollet kufitare sezonale ishin rikthyer që më 1 tetor.
Narrativa që ushqejnë njëra-tjetrën, madje në drejtime të kundërta. Të njëjtat protesta prodhuan edhe narrativën “njerëzit e Kurtit” edhe atë të “agjentëve serbë”. Në të dyja rastet, pretendimi shkoi përtej asaj që provonte materiali: procesverbali tregonte se një i ri kosovar deklaroi se ishte simpatizant i Vetëvendosjes, jo se kishte ardhur me urdhër të dikujt.
Narrativa që kishin nisur më herët. Kuadri që e lidh Albin Kurtin me protestat nuk u shfaq për herë të parë në tetor. Në qershor 2026, gjatë valës së protestave të “revolucionit flamingo”, u shpërnda një video me pretendimin se turma brohoriste “Duam Albin Kurtin”; verifikimi tregoi se thoshte “Ju erdhi fundi”. Narrativa në focus: Ushtria në rrugët e Tiranës
Si u zhvillua. Narrativa është zgjeruar gjatë ditëve të protestave, duke kaluar nga hapësira shqipfolëse në postime dhe materiale në italisht, anglisht, arabisht, frëngjisht, rusisht e gjuhë të tjera. Në Shqipëri, ideja ishte shfaqur që më 14 tetor, kur pamje të mjeteve ushtarake në trafik u interpretuan si provë se ushtria po angazhohej kundër studentëve, pretendim që Faktoje e ka verifikuar më herët. Në ditët pasuese, ndërsa protestat u përshkallëzuan dhe në terren u shtua prania e strukturave policore, narrativa mori një formë të re ndërkombëtare: materiale vizuale të publikuara si nga Tirana nisën të shoqëroheshin me formulime si “armed forces deployed”, “military movements” apo “capital under siege”, duke e paraqitur situatën si një ndërhyrje ushtarake.
Pse u bë e besueshme. Në të njëjtën periudhë, në Itali, veçanërisht në Milano, pas përplasjeve, dëmtimeve dhe plaçkitjeve, qeveria njoftoi dislokimin e 500 ushtarëve. Dy realitete paralele, protestat e tensionuara në Shqipëri dhe dislokimi real i ushtrisë në Itali, u afruan në rrjete dhe në disa raportime, duke krijuar kornizën e një vale më të gjerë trazirash europiane.
Çfarë dokumentohet. Ushtria nuk është dislokuar në Tiranë kundër protestuesve. Në terren janë angazhuar strukturat e Policisë së Shtetit, përfshirë forcat operacionale dhe forcat speciale RENEA.
Narrativa në fokus: Topat zanorë në Rinas
Si u zhvillua. Foto dhe video në Instagram, të shoqëruara me pretendimin se në Rinas kishin mbërritur pajisje LRAD nga Izraeli, paraqisnin pajisjet si “topa zanorë” të përdorur edhe në Serbi. Në rrjete qytetarët paralajmëronin njëri-tjetrin të pajiseshin me tapa veshësh ose kufje me bllokim zhurme. Një portal e titulloi gjithashtu si “dhuratë nga Netanjahu”.
Pse u bë e besueshme. Shqipëria ka thelluar bashkëpunimin e mbrojtjes me Izraelin: në shtator 2025 Këshilli i Ministrave miratoi marrëveshjen kuadër që përfshin ndërmarrjen shtetërore KAYO dhe Elbit Systems (artileria ATMOS, mortajat SPEAR, kuadkopterë). Gjithashtu, Serbia ka konfirmuar se policia e saj zotëron LRAD (prodhim amerikan i “Genasys”, blerë në 2021), ndërsa pas ngjarjes së 15 marsit 2025 në Beograd qeveria fillimisht mohoi dhe më pas pranoi se i zotëronte.
Çfarë dokumentohet. Burime zyrtare thanë se kishin ardhur dy autobotë me ujë hedhës nga Turqia, pa pjesë akustike. Teksti i marrëveshjes me KAYO/Elbit nuk përmend LRAD apo pajisje akustike. Lidhja tregtare mes kompanisë serbe “Romax Trade” dhe Elbit nuk provon vetvetiu se pajisja akustike ishte prodhuar nga Elbit. Faktoje.
Narrativa në focus: “Njerëzit e Kurtit” dhe “agjentët serbë”
Si u zhvillua. Dy të rinj nga Prishtina (Driton Bytyqi dhe Enes Sopi) u shoqëruan gjatë protestave. Sipas procesverbalit të publikuar, njëri tha se punonte kamarier dhe ishte simpatizant i Kurtit dhe i Vetëvendosjes. Disa media i quajtën “militantët e arrestuar të Kurtit”, një titull shkroi “Policia zbulon agjentët e huaj”, ndërsa faqja Kosova365 shkroi për “aktivistë të Vetëvendosjes”. Më 18 tetor, kamerat e Euroneës Albania filmuan në Tiranë Venhar Isufin, i identifikuar nga një portal si zëdhënës i ministrit të Bujqësisë së Kosovës; vetë ai tha se nuk ishte më pjesë e kabinetit prej rreth një muaji e gjysmë dhe se kishte ardhur “për qef”, edhe si gazetar.
Çfarë dokumentohet. Materiali i publikuar nuk dokumentonte lidhje me ndonjë shërbim inteligjence apo strukturë shtetërore. Në konferencën e 16 tetorit, Policia nuk identifikoi Kurtin, Vetëvendosjen, Kosovën apo Serbinë si organizatorë. What we know and what we don’t know about the protests in Tirana
Summary, 16–21 October 2026
This document summarizes the claims that circulated on television and social media during the youth protest in Tirana, what official sources say, what was verified on the ground, and what remains unconfirmed.
The most serious claims spread on social media were the use of firearms at the protest as a sign of celebration, the loss of life of a 16-year-old, and the claim that Muhamet Skana’s mother admitted that her son had been paid to be at the protest. Some of the claims were disproved, some remain unconfirmed, and the Prime Minister’s statement about “foreign interference” remains unverified.
1. Summary of the methodology followed
Faktoje followed posts on Instagram pages and groups linked to the protest, official statements by institutions, online media and television, as well as direct contacts with journalists and students on the ground.
How each claim was verified
- For the video of tanks in Thessaloniki, verification went back to the first publication by Greek media, which explains the reason for the vehicles’ movement.
- For the video of firearms, visual search (Google Lens) showed that the material had circulated earlier, outside the students’ protest.
- The photograph of the convoy with Serbian plates at Morina was found to be 77% AI-generated according to the tool “AI or NOT”.
- For the equipment at Rinas, official sources of the State Police were used, and other institutions confirmed that two water trucks had arrived from Turkey. Meanwhile, Faktoje also compared the claim with the text of the Albania–Israel agreement and with procurement documents in Serbia.
- The police report published by the media and the State Police press conference of 16 October were used to compare the media labels (“Kurti’s militants”, “foreign agents”) with what was actually documented.
- For each narrative, it was identified where it first appeared (social media, television, online media) and how it was repackaged by others.

Patterns of spread
From television to social media, and vice versa. The narratives did not spread only from social media. The claim about the waiter father began on television and then extended to social media; the claims about “Kurti’s militants” were built on police reports published by the media, which some headlines repackaged as “foreign agents”. Even a student’s statement on the show “Breaking” on Euronews Albania was turned into “protests with a manual from Serbia” in some media.
Old or out-of-context materials. The video of the tanks in Thessaloniki was real, but it was linked to a military parade on 28 October and not to the protests. The video of the firearms circulated earlier. The case of the 16-year-old coincided with an event in Greece.
AI-generated images. The photograph of the convoy with Serbian plates at Morina served as “proof” of the infiltration of Serbian agents, while it turned out to be AI-generated. The queues at Morina themselves were not a new phenomenon: seasonal border controls had returned as early as 1 October.
Narratives that feed each other, even in opposite directions. The same protests produced both the “Kurti’s people” narrative and the “Serbian agents” one. In both cases, the claim went beyond what the material proved: the police report showed that a young Kosovar stated that he was a supporter of Vetëvendosje, not that he had come on someone’s orders.
Narratives that had started earlier. The frame that links Albin Kurti to the protests did not appear for the first time in October. In June 2026, during the wave of protests of the “flamingo revolution”, a video was circulated with the claim that the crowd chanted “We want Albin Kurti”; verification showed that it said “Your end has come”. Narrative in focus: The army on the streets of Tirana
How it developed. The narrative expanded during the days of the protests, moving from the Albanian-speaking space to posts and materials in Italian, English, Arabic, French, Russian and other languages. In Albania, the idea had appeared as early as 14 October, when footage of military vehicles in traffic was interpreted as proof that the army was being engaged against the students, a claim that Faktoje had verified earlier. In the following days, as the protests escalated and the presence of police structures on the ground increased, the narrative took on a new international form: visual materials published as if from Tirana began to be accompanied by phrasings such as “armed forces deployed”, “military movements” or “capital under siege”, presenting the situation as a military intervention.
Why it became believable. In the same period, in Italy, particularly in Milan, after clashes, damage and looting, the government announced the deployment of 500 soldiers. Two parallel realities, the tense protests in Albania and the real deployment of the army in Italy, were brought close together on social media and in some reports, creating the frame of a wider wave of European unrest.
What is documented. The army has not been deployed in Tirana against protesters. State Police structures have been engaged on the ground, including operational forces and the RENEA special forces.
Narrative in focus: The sound cannons at Rinas
How it developed. Photos and videos on Instagram, accompanied by the claim that LRAD devices from Israel had arrived at Rinas, presented the equipment as “sound cannons” also used in Serbia. On social media, citizens warned each other to equip themselves with earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones. One portal also titled it a “gift from Netanyahu”.
Why it became believable. Albania has deepened its defense cooperation with Israel: in September 2025 the Council of Ministers approved the framework agreement that includes the state-owned enterprise KAYO and Elbit Systems (ATMOS artillery, SPEAR mortars, quadcopters). Also, Serbia has confirmed that its police possess LRAD (American-made by “Genasys”, purchased in 2021), while after the events of 15 March 2025 in Belgrade the government at first denied and then admitted that it possessed them.
What is documented. Official sources said that two water-cannon trucks had arrived from Turkey, with no acoustic components. The text of the agreement with KAYO/Elbit does not mention LRAD or acoustic equipment. Narrative in focus: “Kurti’s people” and “Serbian agents”
How it developed. Two young men from Pristina (Driton Bytyqi and Enes Sopi) were escorted away during the protests. According to the published police report, one said he worked as a waiter and was a supporter of Kurti and Vetëvendosje. Some media called them “the arrested militants of Kurti”, one headline wrote “Police uncover foreign agents”, while the Kosova365 page wrote about “Vetëvendosje activists”. On 18 October, Euronews Albania cameras filmed in Tirana Venhar Isufi, identified by one portal as spokesperson of Kosovo’s Minister of Agriculture; he himself said he had no longer been part of the cabinet for about a month and a half and that he had come “for fun”, and also as a journalist.
What is documented. The published material did not document any link to an intelligence service or state structure. At the press conference of 16 October, the Police did not identify Kurti, Vetëvendosje, Kosovo or Serbia as organizers. - Albin Kurti’s people inciting the protest in Tirana: unproven.
- The Prime Minister’s statement about “foreign interference”: remains unverified.
- For the claims “Greece took its tanks out onto the streets” and “Vetëvendosje organizes protests from Pristina” the verdict is “context missing”: something real happened, but it does not prove what is claimed.
